Transforming Indonesian Fisheries: A visit to Cirebon
starmagnoliacapital.substack.com
The city of Cirebon is on the northern coast of the Indonesian island of Java. It is the only coastal city of West Java, the name Cirebon is said to be derived from the Sundanese words "ci" (water or river) and "rebon" ("shrimp"). Indeed, the port city is known for its fisheries and shrimp farms. It is not a surprise, but worth mentioning that Indonesia is the 3rd largest aquaculture producer globally with ~$13bn TAM across ~2.2mn aquaculture farmers and ~7mn ponds.
Interesting!
